Details for 2012-2013 School YearBefore School CareWe provide Before School Care for families who need it, starting at 7:45 a.m. Children cannot be dropped off before that time. The gates that lead into the playground are not unlocked until 7:45 a.m. Students in grades K-12 who are dropped off before 8:10 a.m. are required to go to Before School Care for their own safety. There is no charge for Before School Care. After School CareOur regular After School Care program runs from 3:00 (dismissal) to 6:00 p.m. on all regular school days. The cost is $3.00 per hour/per student. Hourly rates will begin 5 minutes after each hour begins.
Emergency After School CareWe realize that emergencies or other unavoidable situations arise which may cause a driver to be late for pick-up. All children (K-12) who have not been picked up by 3:15 p.m. will be placed in Emergency After School Care which is available until 3:30 p.m. at no additional charge. After 3:30 p.m., an After School Care fee of $3.00 per student/per hour will be charged. For example, if a parent arrives at 3:45 p.m., the charge will be $3.00. (Office staff will not watch the children. The children must go to After School Care if their parents will be late.)
After 6:00 p.m.Parents who are late in picking their children up from the After School Care Program will be charged an additional $1.00 per minute for every minute past 6:00 p.m. We advise that parents make sure their clocks are set to the official time. We charge by the minute, so it is essential that parents arrive on time to avoid unwanted fees.
PaymentThe care provider will sign all children in, and a parent will need to sign each child out upon the parent’s arrival to the school. Parents will then indicate which session their child participated in for the day. The office will bill families for their use of the After School Care Program through RenWeb, our school management software. Billings occur the first week of each month. For example, a family’s child care during the month of September will be billed to their RenWeb account in early October.
Care ProvidersMrs. Kidder is the primary care provider. A schedule of care providers and phone numbers is available from the office upon request. Mrs. Kidder is the lead supervisor for the Before and After School Care Programs. If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact Mrs. Kidder at 916.410.0884.
Location (Drop Off & Pick Up)
Before & After School Care meets at the elementary lunch area and/or the 6th grade classroom. Drop Off: First entrance on Andrea Blvd. Pick Up: Parents park behind the school in the designated parking area along the open field. They enter through the gates and go to the 6th grade classroom to sign out their children.
SnacksFamilies are responsible to provide snacks for their children.
The ProgramStudents stay with their teachers until 3:15 p.m. when they are in the after school program. The program begins at 3:15 p.m. and the students are free to play from 3:15-3:30 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., students begin work on their homework for the evening. The care provider oversees their work (e.g. makes sure each child is on task, answers general questions, helps with dictation and math facts, and signs homework logs). The care provider does not provide detailed homework help as a part of the After School Care Program. Should a child require tutoring, parents need to negotiate a separate tutoring agreement between themselves and the care provider.
