Every spring, Cornerstone students go to a local park and compete with each other in races, challenges, cheers, and games. Field Day is the culmination of a year’s worth of planning and effort put forth by numerous teams consisting of students in grades one through twelve. (Kindergarten students have their own Field Day.) Team captains and co-captains lead their charges throughout the year as they select a team name, memorize a theme Bible verse, make up a team cheer, and practice their team’s song. Points are accumulated as these feats are accomplished and as the students physically compete on Field Day. The team with the most points at the end of the day is victorious. This event exemplifies much of what we are trying to accomplish as a school—to raise up servant-leaders.
