Field Day is the culmination of a year’s worth of planning and meetings. Six teams of students
from 1st -12th grade meet throughout the year and are led by a high school team captain and co-captain with a faculty advisor. (TK and Kindergarten students have their own Field Day.) They select team names, memorize theme Bible verses, make up team cheers, and practice their teams’ songs.
Points are accumulated based on the captains’ meeting deadlines, conducting their meetings well,
and accomplishing assigned tasks. On Field Day teams physically compete in races, obstacle
courses, cheers, tug of war and other games while parents and friends cheer them on. The team
with the most points at the end of the day is victorious. This event exemplifies much of what we
are trying to accomplish as a school—to build a strong community and to train and develop servant-leaders.
